Venezuela Oil Min: PdVSA 'Defeated' Exxon Freeze In Court

Venezuela's oil minister on Tuesday celebrated a decision by a U.K. court to dismiss a $12 billion asset freeze against Petroleos de Venezuela, PdVSA, and indicated that a decision to countersue ExxonMobil ( XOM) is still on the table. 'We've defeated Exxon Mobil in a London tribunal...,' said Oil Minister Rafael Ramirez, according to a statement by the Ministry of Information. Ramirez said PdVSA will decide if and when to make any legal moves against Exxon when 'the full decision from the judge becomes available on Thursday.'

  1. PdVSA shouldn't even think twice about suing Exxon-Mobil right back. They must just do it -- even if they might still have to be somewhat civil about the whole matter for now, while they're somewhat tied up too closely with this corporation in other business dealings from before. But the idea is to break off with them permanently.

Corporations like Exxon-Mobil very much need oil countries in which to operate -- even to merely exist as entities. Venezuela, OTOH, does NOT need the likes of Exxon-Mobil at any time, ever again. FINIS.

And this is how the world has changed.
