Ecuador Shrugs Colombia Heavyhand

The Colombian governments recent statements on Wednesday further put off possibilities of a prompt re-establishment of diplomatic relations with Ecuador. The declaration by Colombian Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos that his countrys soldiers raid on a northern Ecuadorian zone was a legitimate act of war tarnished both countries possibilities of getting closer. Foreign Minister Maria Isabel Salvador said Tuesday that Santos heavyhanded aggresive statements hamper a rapid re-establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations.
