International factors are ready to act to weaken the government of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez

Caracas, Mar 24 (Prensa Latina) International factors are ready to act to weaken the government of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez in the regional elections in November.

On his program Jose Vicente Hoy, broadcast on Televen, journalist Jose Vicente Rangel warned that funds for the election campaign of governors and mayors have begun to flow into the country.

For now, he said, an initial contribution of four million dollars from the United States and another one in euros from a Spanish entrepreneurial group have been made to a retired general who held a post in the Chavez government.

The former vice president noted that US military facilities, and air and naval bases in Curacao and Aruba are increasing their number and personnel. In addition, sophisticated equipment is being used in espionage and interception activities, he added.

Rangel said that 600 governors, mayors and members of the legislative councils would be voted in the November elections, when the opposition hopes to replace some of the president's supporters.

At the same time, the political forces that support the revolutionary process are betting on keeping their current posts and even recovering those in the hands of the adversaries of the government.
