US Accused of Supporting Terrorism
The U.S. was accused of supporting terrorism in a case involving Luis Posada Carriles who is wanted in Cuba & Venezuala on suspicion of bombing a Cuban airliner in 1976. He sought asylum in the US in 2005 when he arrived illegally. The Cuban ambassador, Rodrigo Malmierca Diaz, urged the UN Security Council to 'demand that the US government immediately sentence (Carriles) for his terrorist acts or extradite him to ... Venezuela' The US is refusing to extradite him because they fear he will be tortured. Iran also addressed the Council alleging that the US is supporting the People's Mujahideen(MKO) an organisation listed as a terrorist group in Europe, the US and Iraq.
