Venezuelan lawmakers probe Chavez brothers for allegedly acquiring ranches
Venezuela's National Assembly opened an investigation Wednesday into accusations that two of President Hugo Chavez's brothers acquired 17 ranches in recent years - if true a potential stain on the image of Chavez's socialist movement. Lawmaker Wilmer Azuaje arrived at the assembly to present documents containing his allegations before the congressional audit commission in a closed-door session.

You can be certain that the fascistic Jerusalem Post would be all over this one. But maybe their next story can be about israeli mercenaries operating in South America on criminal missions for the Pentagon, eh?
ReplyDeleteIf this story is true, it is certainly a situation where Hugo Chávez has to leave his brothers -- and the rest of his family, possibly, based on persistent stories -- to their legal fate. An example definitely has to be set here, at the 'top'. But this corruption wouldn't be going on in 'socialist' Venezuela if power in society had been properly distributed to the consejos all this time. And for that failing, we have the ambivalent leadership of Hugo Chávez himself to blame: as he first moves towards -- and then away from -- the goal of true socialism, confusing everyone; and emboldening our enemies.
And so in the meantime, a clique of nouveau riche and their bureaucratic allies have attempted to take advantage of their new connections to get rich quick -- and have thus threatened the very fate of socialism in the world and América Latina, in seeking their petty personal ends. And now see how the far Right mass-media is right there -- just waiting to discredit us.
These corrupt people inside the bolivarian administration, and among the "boli-bourgeoisie" have to be rooted out and dumped from their positions immediately -- for starters -- and communal, council control set up over all aspects of government in Venezuela.
