National Assembly (AN) deputy Saul Ortega says Colombia´s military raid into Ecuador was planned for Venezuela

Caracas, Mar 4 (Prensa Latina) Colombia´s military raid into Ecuador was planned for Venezuela, Saul Ortega, president of the foreign policy commission at the Venezuelan National Assembly, stated Tuesday.

Interviewed by private channel "Venevision," Ortega said that the real motivation of the attack to Ecuador, in which Colombian guerrilla chief Raul Reyes was killed, and the attempts to accuse Venezuela is to control the region.

"The aggression against Ecuador was meant for Venezuela, but it could not be carried out because there are no guerrilla camps here," said the lawmaker.

Ortega"s statements ratify previous accusations by Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro, who revealed that President Hugo Chavez was informed three weeks ago there were plans to provoke a military incident in the Venezuelan territory.

The legislator termed as "stupidity" and "despicable" the accusations by Colombian Police Chief Gen. Oscar Naranjo on alleged link between the Venezuelan government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia.

Along with the alleged purchase of uranium by the guerrilla, he said, this concern in opinions generated in United States to justify military interventions with the pretext of terrorism or the no cooperation in fighting drug trafficking.

The US Department of State, Ortega recalled, supported the Colombian aggression to neighboring nations, as it does with Israel when attacking Syria, Lebanon and other nations.

  1. Saul Ortega makes a good point here: that Hugo Chávez did indeed predict the colombians were looking to stage a provocation, soon, across the border. He just got the country 'wrong'. This time.

So to those scurvy dogs who've been as much as calling Chávez a blowhard, a liar, crazy, paranoid, etc., for making such claims, I ask you: "¿por qué no te callas?"
