Venezuelans overwhelmingly reject any kind of military confrontation with Colombia, but they likely identify with the president's nationalist rhetoric

Alfredo Keller, a Caracas-based pollster, said Venezuelans overwhelmingly reject any kind of military confrontation with Colombia, but they likely identify with the president's nationalist rhetoric. 'No one wants a foreign army to enter into their territory,' Keller said. Leon, of Datanalisis, said most Venezuelans feel that Colombia violated Ecuador's sovereignty when it raided a FARC camp just inside Ecuadorean territory and killed Raul Reyes and several other guerillas. Leon said his firm has conducted preliminary studies on Venezuelans' reactions to the conflict with Colombia and added that an in-depth study will be undertaken in the coming days. On the direct, personal confrontation between Chavez and Uribe - which has been brewing for months - a strong majority sides with the Venezuelan president, Leon said, citing previous polling data.
