Caracas, Mar 11 (Prensa Latina) The Venezuelan Central Bank opened offices in 10 states of the country in a move to change currency towards a strong Bolivar, the banking institution informed.
Officials will visit the states of Falcon, Apure, Guarico, Portuguesa, Cojedes, Sucre, Nueva Esparta, Tachira y Merida from March 12 to 16 to advise on the currency change.
According to the BCV, in 15 days these will have been held in 174 localities and the 24 institutions of the country and arranged to exchange an average of 138,520 combos for five strong metal bolivares in all denominations.
In addition to denominations of de .01, .05, .10, .125, .25, .50 centimos and a strong Bolivar, those interested can inquire about the exchange begun at the beginning of the year to eliminate three zeros from the currency.
According to bank officials, the main queries of the Venezuelans are on the joint circulation of new bills and old ones during six months, their equivalence and rounding off of decimal points to effect the change.
