United Nations Security Council discusses threats to world peace and security posed by terrorism

United Nations, Mar 19 (Prensa Latina) The UN Security Council discussed threats to world peace and security posed by terrorism, and talked on the new initiatives of the UN Counter-Terrorism Committee.

UNCTC Executive Director, Australian Mike Smith, talked of the progress in fighting the scourge via hundreds of conventions and protocols on an issue that most countries consider a crime.
  • Smith noted the unprecedented exchange of information and cooperation among countries that include border control, technical assistance, arms trafficking and legal matters.

Cuban Ambassador Rodrigo Malmierca denounced the terrorist actions against his country by private citizens and organizations and their protection and conspiratorial tolerance by the US Administration. He also called false claims by US representative Jackie Wilcott who said that her country abode by international law in the case of terrorist Luis Posada Carriles.

Fermin Quinoines, replied that if her country would have been clean, Posada Carriles would have been already indicted as a terrorist or would have extradite him to Venezuela.

Quinones reminded that they (the US) try to prevent the world by all means from learning about Luis Posada Carrieles' terrorist actions as a CIA agent. He added that the US has never showed intention to sue him despite the volume of evidence against and called the Security Council to pay attention to Cuba's denounces and act accordingly.
