Peace negotiations by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez now have the support of 66 percent of his people

Caracas, Mar 19 (Prensa Latina) Peace negotiations by Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez now have the support of 66 percent of his people, according to studies made by local sociological research enterprise Venezolana de Estudios de Opinion.

The analysis by VENEOPSA, published by Venezolana de Television, showed that 51 percent of the questioned people considers the Colombian government will request Chavez to keep working as a mediator for a humanitarian exchange.

Regarding the results of the Summit of the Group of Rio in the Dominican Republic, 54 percent said the agreement reached between Colombia, Ecuador, Nicaragua and Venezuela was a success, while 56 percent considered Chavez´ work was useful only to ease the tension.

  • On the other hand, 53 percent said the US administration is making efforts to stop integration and unity in Latin America.

The poll showed 31 percent regarded Chavez´ work as good, 13 percent as very good, and 24 percent as just regular, while 32 percent said it had been bad, or very bad. The study was made in the main Venezuelan cities and towns, with a sample of 1,500 questioned people from both sexes over 18 years of age.
