Chavez calls the United States the 'big loser' at a meeting of Latin American leaders
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called the United States the 'big loser' at a meeting of Latin American leaders in the Dominican Republic, saying Venezuela's allies undermined alleged US efforts to divide the region. Chavez praised Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa and Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega yesterday for joining him a day earlier in 'standing up' to Washington at the Rio Group summit. Yesterday, there was a big loser: the North American empire,' Chavez said during a televised speech. Correa and Ortega 'showed the North American empire and its pawns that Venezuela is not alone.'

The biggest strength the Left has is simply sticking together in the face of a common threat. And here too -- where we have bourgeois-nationalist governments that aren't even particularly socialist: just sticking together, in a principled manner, gets them many times the power of each acting on their own.
ReplyDeleteThe U.S. is not just a loser, it is a bankrupt empire just as Rome was in her last days.
ReplyDeleteRight now the Bush regime is running on empty. It is not just a recession, but a bankruptcy sale. Just take a good look around, not that there neither money nor intelligence to be had in the U.S. This reminiscent of the last days of the Roman Empire. In just a year from now, what was once the USA will be up for sale to the highest bidders.
