VHeadline Venezuela News reports: Bolivar State Legislature candidate Edgar Melendez says that incumbent State Governor Francisco Rangel Gomez is out of step with President Hugo Chavez Frias' original concept of a peaceful Bolivarian Revolution and is, in fact, working against the best interests of both the President and the country.
He describes Rangel Gomez as "a right-winger who is now an enemy of the process..."
Melendez, who represents the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) says President Hugo Chavez is in error when he gives his political support to Governor Rangel Gomez who, although a long-time military colleague of the Head of State, stands accused of betraying original revolutionary principles for personal gain.
"We recognize and support the policies of the National Government at both international and national levels, but nobody should be allowed to blackmail or apply political pressure in his own interests such as the current governor (Rangel Gomez) has clearly committed in his allegiances to the political right and the regional oligarchy.
For us in PCV it would be a clear betrayal of our principles, to give Rangel Gomez any support whatsoever!"
In clear disagreement with President Hugo Chavez' designs to amalgamate all of Venezuela's leftist parties under a single banner of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV), the Venezuelan Communist Party says that the Patriotic Alliance of parties NOT included in PSUV will support Manuel Arciniegas as gubernatorial candidate for Bolivar State in November 23 elections since he represents "a true balance of political principles and values that are more in line with the wishes of the people."
Rangel Gomez has recently maligned the PCV and other dissenting parties on the left of Venezuela's political perspective, insulting them as renegades and traitors ... "it is completely wrong to label the Patria Para Todos-PPT (Fatherland for All) and PCV as traitors who should be swept off the face of the earth," Melendez says.
Of course, Rangel Gomez has simply been mouthing the insults issued recently by President Hugo Chavez Frias himself, on national television, when he (Chavez) said that the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) is filled with "traitors and counterrevolutionaries. PCV regional secretary and Patriotic Alliance member of the Bolivar State Legislature, Edgar Melendez says that Chavez has got it all wrong...
"ALL Venezuelans are aware of the historic revolutionary commitment of militants within the communist revolution itself to socialism and ethics. Even our adversaries recognize the high level of commitment, responsibility, discipline and sacrifice we have shown, and continue to show, towards the building of Venezuela's socialism ... as revolutionaries, we do not need special licenses to be recognized as such, because political history is behind us!"
"On the other hand, we very much regret that President Chavez has decided to support Rangel Gomez as candidate for re-election as governor of Bolivar State, especially considering his right-wing affiliations .... Francisco Rangel Gomez is NO friend of the (Venezuelan) revolution, he is a right-winger and is now clearly an enemy of the process!"
