Venezuela's President Hugo Chavez says he plans to imprison a popular opposition governor for allegedly plotting to kill him, the Associated Press reported. Chavez says he has decided to make Gov. Manuel Rosales of Venezuela's western Zulia state 'a prisoner.' The socialist leader says that Rosales wants him dead and is guilty of corruption. Chavez also says he has suspended a trip to El Salvador for the Ibero-American summit next week because the El Salvadorian government cannot guarantee his safety. He leveled Saturday's accusations just weeks before Nov. 23's gubernatorial and municipal elections. Rosales is running for mayor of Maracaibo, Venezuela's second largest city. Rosales' campaign did not immediately respond to Chavez's comments.
