Grandes Pianistas Venezolanos: fifth week on Sunday at the Aula Magna of Universidad Central de Venezuela

Caracas Daily Journal: As part of a homage to Venezue-lan composer Teresa Carreno, the successful series Grandes Pianistas Venezolanos from the Orquesta Sinfónica Municipal de Caracas (OSMC) will arrive at its fifth week on Sunday, June 29. The Aula Magna of the Universidad Central de Venezuela, will serve as the stage at 11:45 a.m.

The invited soloist will be renowned pianist Vanessa Perez, who is known as a keyboard virtuoso and bears an extraordinary talent that captivates the audiences. The program, conducted by maestro Rafael Jimenez, will be formed by complex and beautiful works like Bernstein's Candide, Respighi's Fuentes de Roma, Ravel's Concierto en Sol and the national debut of Pelekumbe, a Paul Desenne creation.

After her debut with the OSMC in Caracas when she was just eleven, Vanessa has received honors like the Orden Jose Felix Rivas, awarded to her in 1998 for her contribution to the country, as well as numerous international awards directed to the youth. Meanwhile, maestro Rafael Jimenez is currently director of the Florida Ballet in West Palm Beach, and director associate of the Michigan State University, where he conducts symphonic concerts and opera shows, all the while making presentations with many important orchestras from America, Europe and Asia.
