Rivilla says the citizens of Bolivar State are suffering the consequences of Rangel Gomez' bad governance since his incompetence has affected all public services ... public water supplies, electricity, transport, roads, housing are all on the brink of collapse and he (Rangel Gomez) is doing nothing to remedy the problems.
"The best example of Rangel Gomez' lack of governance is the lack of maintenance and investment in drinking water and drainage systems ... only last Friday morning the pipelines taking water to Venezuelan Guayana Corporation (CVG) industries in Ciudad Guayana, collapsed because of last Thursday night's heavy rains ... the people took to the streets the very same day to protest the lack of improvements to drainage channels after the torrential downpour left many homes flooded."
COPEI's Rivilla emphasizes the disgraceful condition of roads and highways throughout the State, adding that they have already become a bottleneck for everyone who tries to transit each day. "Many people have lost their lives on the roads because they have to try to dodge the huge amounts of pot-holes and lose control of their cars often with serious injuries and fatal results." He says that Rangel Gomez is "a mockery of a governor ... he inaugurated one of three asphalt plants he had acquired on behalf of the State, but the main avenues and streets of the towns and cities of Bolivar are mostly impassable since he hadn't lifted a finger to repair them..."
Meanwhile, COPEI's candidate for Bolivar State governor, Andres Velasquez, are turning overwhelmingly in droves to approve his (Velasquez') candidacy ... "it is necessary for the people to rally to Velasquez flag as the regional leader most capable of restoring order to the chaos in which Bolivar State has become mired."
Christian Socialist COPEI has just confirmed Andres Velasquez as their favored candidate for Governor and Victor Fuenmayor for Mayor of Heres Municipality (Ciudad Bolivar) while Luis Escalona, the local party organizer says that both candidates are working hard for the recovery of both governance and the municipalities of the developing Guayana region.
"We must alert people of dangers along the pathway to Venezuelan democracy imposed by the 26 unilateral laws recently decreed by President Hugo Chavez."
