VHeadline Venezuela News reports: Sindicato Unico de Trabajadores de la Alumina (United Aluminum Workers' Union) secretary Nelson Mora and organization delegate Jose Garcia have called for the immediate resignation of Basic Industries & Mining (Mibam) Minister Rodolfo Sanz claiming that SAnz' management failure both as Mibam Minister and president & CEO of the Venezuelan Guayana Corporation (CVG) "has created (industrial) conflicts" in the southeastern Guayana region of Venezuela and that the management of CVG subsidiaries have NOT "fulfilled the task entrusted to them by President Chavez.""That is why, in the name of all CVG employees in Guayana, we are demanding that Sanz should go now," Mora is quoted as saying in this Monday morning's editions of the regional newspaper Nueva Prensa de Guayana.
"Since his appointment as Mibam Minister, Sanz has not been able to resolve the many labor problems that have paralyzed state-owned enterprises in Guayana ... evidence of this lies in the everyday reality of each one of the companies supervised by Mibam. The minister has been unable to solve the problem caused by out-sourcing at CVG-Sidor and core CVG businesses ... and it is all compounded by the CVG's recent threats of close-downs ... the complete chaos in labor relations is the fault of the CVG the the Minister's inability to resolve the situation is now a matter of public record. "Mora says that at CVG-Bauxilum there's collective unease over Sanz' performance with Mibam because he has neglected investments to refurbish the plant's alumina production and failed to pay labor liabilities to industrial workers.
"Nobody at CVG-Bauxilum will believe anything that Sanz or his team say, because they have failed the tasks they were entrusted to achieve ... they have NOT brought in the necessary resources for the plant to proceed and they have failed to face the reality experienced by plant workers each and every day as we see how our company falls apart."
Another problem cited by union secretary Nelson Mora is that Sanz has brought foreign personnel in to the company's aluminum management, causing an excessive financial burden to the administration.
"There's a large number of people who arrived from Caracas who know absolutely
nothing about the production processes or how to produce alumina, the aluminum
and coal industry. Eventually these people will become a burden that is hard for
CVG subsidiaries to assimilate."
Mora and Garcia have called on CVG workers to put their "will and determination to resolve the breakdown of the company's water supply to the Matanzas business park. "CVG-Bauxilum workers should be proud of how our company started working on it at 7 p.m. on Saturday, and that we have been able to effect repairs and to resolve problems involving the recovery of our company."
"We demonstrated that our workers have a passion for the company and that we work effectively despite having to cross great obstacles. Along with workers from other companies, we were able successfully to overcome barriers imposed by nature, as well as the human errors that contributed to making our work more difficult."
