A worker was injured during maintenance at Venezuela's 300,000 barrel per day Cardon oil refinery, two refinery sources told Reuters on Friday. The sources said the worker, an electrician employed by state oil company PDVSA, received a large electric shock as a result of an error while carrying out maintenance at Distillation Unit No. 2. 'He's in the hospital,' one of the sources said. That crude unit will be offline for planned maintenance until the middle of August, one of the sources said. 'It's part of the planned maintenance that they do every four or five years,' he said. A PDVSA spokesperson said the company would provide a statement about the incident in a press release by midday.
