The Venezuela National Electoral Council (CNE) starts Tuesday the process of revision and updating voters' registration for the November 23 regional elections. August 25 was the deadline to register in the Electoral Registration (RE), 90 days before elections as law has stipulated. Over 30,000 Venezuelans eligible to vote were registered on the last day. RE Commission president Sandra Oblitas highlighted the clarity of the process of registration, information structure and the entity's attention to voting complaints. Oblitas stated that false information by several sectors seems to be linked to some political organizations to encourage breaking of institutionality. According to figures, there were 16,699,576 voters until July 31, of which 170,295 are foreigners who have lived in the country for over 10 years. Oblitas confirmed that the preliminary lists of voters will be published after revisions, and the list will be definitively ready 15 days later. The country will elect November 23 nearly 603 officials, of them 22 governors, 328 mayors, 233 legislative council members, 13 councilors for the Caracas Metropolitan Council, and seven for the Alto Apure Metropolitan City Hall.
