Former Argentinean President Néstor Kirchner will travel on September 10 to Venezuela for talks with President Hugo Chávez on bilateral issues, including the negotiations with Argentinean-Italian Techint group and the possible new issuance of Argentinean bonds, newspaper Crítica said. Kirchner is visiting Caracas before his wife, Argentinean President Cristina Fernández, travels to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly, sources close to the Peronist politician said, as reported by DPA. The meeting would take place after Chávez's decision to suspend negotiations with Techint with respect to the nationalization of Venezuelan steelmaker company Siderúrgica del Orinoco, Sidor. One of the issues to be discussed could be the high interest rate charged by Venezuela this month to purchase USD 1 billion in Argentinean bonds and the crisis provoked by the immediate resale of those papers, which caused the Argentinean bond prices to tumble.
