Venezuelan Bank Chooses Postilion Payments Platform
Venezuela’s Banco Occidental de Descuento (BOD) will replace its legacy payment platform with a multi-channel system provided by Postilion. BOD is implementing Postilion software for ATM and point-of-sale (POS) terminal driving, payment switching, and card management. Norcross, Georgia-based Postilion is a subsidiary of Atlanta-based banking software firm S1. BOD is the fifth largest bank in Venezuela, with over 200 branches. 'Our vision is to operate a true multi-channel platform, managing not only our electronic banking network, ATMs, and POS terminals, but also offering other services in the future, such as Internet, voice, and mobile banking,' says Rodolfo Rojas, BOD’s vice president of technology. Francois van Schoor, Postilion Payments’ senior vice president and general manager, says the firm is seeing increasing adoption of its technology in Latin America. According to van Schoor, Latin American banks are upgrading their payment systems in a bid to reduce their costs and provide value-added services to their customers.
