Warships from Brazil and Venezuela are taking part in joint naval maneuvers, including test firing drills, at the firing range of La Orchila Island, Venezuela, a military source said on Monday. This time, the Venbras maneuver, which has been carried out for 15 years, started at Guanta port, then moved to La Orchila air and sea base and was scheduled to conclude at Pampatar, Margarita Island, on Tuesday. Venbras includes drills with artillery, choppers, tactic maneuvers and communication, also involving Venezuelan Sukhoi planes. El Tiempo daily, from eastern Anzoategui state, quoted Brazilian Rear Admiral Carlos Auberto Guimaraes as saying that the exercise is aimed at exchanging experiences between troops from both countries. At the end of Venbras, the Brazilian visitors will set sail for Panama, where they will continue their practices.
