"Plot to get rid of Chavez" is included in the 2008 edition of the Global Peace Index

Venezuelan National Assembly (AN) congressman Jose Albornos (secretary general of Patria para Todos-PPT) says "a plot to get rid of Chavez" is part of the 2008 edition of the Global Peace Index which lists Venezuela way down close to the bottom in a world ranking.
"Sometimes things tip over into irrationality just like they're doing just now ... it is part of a plan ... there are sectors who decide that they want to get rid of Chavez, who have seen that they cannot get rid of Chavez in a coup d'etat and are trying to penalize the whole country in a campaign of attrition."

Albornoz says that Global Peace Index 2008 "doesn't correspond with the truth" and adds that "if you see some countries in Africa and the Middle East, it is difficult to imagine that you can compare what is happening in Iraq with what is happening in Venezuela ... this kind of information only exacerbates violence and stimulates an increase in the indices of insecurity."

Venezuela is facing the most difficult period of its history with honest reporters crippled by sectarianism on top of rampant corruption within the administration and beyond, aided and abetted by criminal forces in the US and Spanish governments which cannot accept the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people to decide over their own future.
