Venezuela calls Colombia's defense minister a 'liar'
Venezuela says Colombia lied about the results of a meeting to determine whether Colombian troops illegally entered Venezuelan territory last week. Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro says the Colombian defense minister lied in a statement, but did not elaborate in a telephone interview Saturday with Venezuelan state television. On Tuesday, Colombian Defense Minister Juan Manuel Santos issued a statement saying the incursion never happened. Venezuela says Colombian troops were intercepted in Venezuela last Saturday, just hundreds of yards (meters) from the shared border. Bilateral tensions have run high since Colombia produced computer files suggesting Venezuela may have financed the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or FARC.
