Venezuelan man taken to hospital after being thrown from vehicle

A 52-year-old man was flown by helicopter to Christus Spohn Hospital Memorial in stable condition about 7:30 a.m. Saturday after being thrown from a vehicle that rolled three times, said Department of Public Safety officials.
Jesus Villa, who was not wearing a seat belt, was in stable condition, according to the HaloFlight crew. Driver Johanna Zunica, 27, fell asleep while driving a 2005 Ford Trac sport pickup north on Interstate 37 at mile marker 39 north of Mathis.
“She over-corrected after being fatigued and falling asleep,” said Trooper Liza Ochea. The pickup veered off the roadway and rolled uphill at least two times onto the access roadway, Ochea said.
Zunica was wearing a seatbelt. She and two children, a 2-year-old boy and one-year-old girl who were in child safety seats, were also taken by ambulance to the hospital to be checked, according to the report.
