Scientology's Unfair Game

A church is the last thing you would associate with Mafia-style revenge tactics. Yet the Church of Scientology has developed a fearsome reputation across the media, Government agencies, and the critical community. This notoriety is a consequence of a Scientology policy known as 'Fair Game' - almost a license to kill, granted to Scientologists when dealing with anyone considered 'enemies' of the church.
These examples are notorious and well-documented evidence of the Church of Scientology's attacks against perceived enemies, long after the supposed cancellation of fair game law. Unfortunately, the vengeful practice of "fair game" tactics continues to this day. John Sweeney's 2007 documentary "Scientology and Me" shows fair game practices in action, as Scientology spokesperson Tommy Davis harasses Sweeney during filming. While taping an interview with the late Shawn Lonsdale, Davis arrived on the scene and interrupted them on-camera, reading out embarrassing allegations based on Lonsdale's past. In fact, an extended campaign of defamation was conducted against Lonsdale, including the placement of insulting posters around Clearwater Florida. Lonsdale alleged he received death threats from Scientologists. In February 2008, Shawn Lonsdale was found dead in his home, the victim of an apparent suicide.
