Unsuccessful gubernatorial candidate warns of "hegemonic pretensions" in Chavez' ruling PSUV party!

VHeadline Venezuela News reports:
Former candidate for Bolivar State Governor, Manuel Arciniegas says it is necessary for newly-mandated State Governor Francisco Rangel Gomez to respect the victory of Carlos Chancellor as duly-elected Mayor of Sifontes municipality and has expressed his deep concern over what he describes as the "hegemonic pretensions" President Hugo Chavez' United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) following their victory in November 23 local and regional elections.

"Just as much as we recognize our defeat and therefore the victory of the PSUV candidates in the Guayana region, they must also recognize that Chancellor's win is a phenomenon that goes beyond pure politics," Arciniegas explains.

Arciniegas regrets what he perceives to be a climate of ungovernability in Bolivar State since there are overwhelming problems of governance that will only be exacerbated during Governor Rangel Gomez' return mandate. He says the problem is already exacerbated by a critical lack of acceptance on the part of some PSUV leaders with regard to official election results issued by the National Electoral Council (CNE) proclaiming democratic opposition gains over government candidates. "What is currently happening in Sifontes municipality is cleat proof of that ... they are acting in an undemocratic way to ignore the results that were issued by the electoral arbiter!"

Chancellor's victory, against all odds, in Sifontes was, Arciniegas says, due to mismanagement allegedly carried out by the previous administration ... "We should also not forget that there were personal attacks that led to the electorate to elect a different leader ... that democratic decision must be respected!"
  • Re-elected State Governor Francisco Rangel Gomez and elected PSUV Mayors "must adopt coherent revolutionary attitudes and work honestly to achieve real change in Bolivar State ... President Chavez' revolutionary process should have as its sole purpose to consolidate 21st Century Socialism!"
Regrettably, Arciniegas says own campaign headquarters received several complaints, in conjunction with the November 23 local and regional elections, of mistreatment by Plan Republic officials all over Bolivar State. There were allegations of abuses in the manner in which the PSUV mobilized voters using Bolivar State police patrols ... "a situation that is the total responsibility of the principal actors within PSUV," Arciniegas adds.
