VHeadline Venezuela News reports: Primero Justicia (Justice First) coordinator Julio Borges has sent a clear message to President Hugo Chavez Frias asking him to put aside confrontation and begin to solve problems that afflict the Venezuelan people. The democratic opposition politician says he believes that "the strength of democracy expressed by the Venezuelan people (in elections on on November 23) is a clear message that Venezuelans across the country are anxiously waiting for a atmosphere of peace and a doing away with confrontation and violence.
"The Venezuelan people are crying out for a united Venezuela ... not a divided nation. Last Sunday, they sent a clear message of balance ... balance of powers, respect for others, using moderate language."
Borges says newly-elected authorities have clearly expressed their willingness to work together with the national government but that President Chavez has returned to a campaign of sweeping insults, divisions, recriminations. "We've had enough of fighting, the people have already suffered ten years immersed in an atmosphere of perpetual divisions."
In a press conference, the PJ leader asked Chavez to begin to rule in favor of ALL Venezuelans ... regardless of ideology or color. He says "it is necessary if Venezuela is to build a society with true social justice, where tolerance reigns and the humanistic character of its citizens pervades."
"Our proposal is very specific ... that the President should convene ALL sectors of the country, and that we should reach a national agreement on three basic aspects: Firstly, to reject devaluation of the national currency, to plug the lower income gap, collect more taxes and to freeze the VAT rate. Secondly, to discontinue the wholesale purchase of weaponry and giving away our national resources to other nations. Thirdly, to encourage private sector collaboration with clear rules and a level playing field as the only way to alleviate the current crisis."
