Construction work continues on the eastern highway from Caracas towards Puerto La Cruz

  1. Not much to see yet, huh? I wonder what the present highway route to Puerto La Cruz is like. That's apparently a northern leg of the "Pan-American" highway, FWIW...

The bolivarian government should be providing nice websites which detail and map out all these initiatives they're taking for the people, so that we in el Norte can for instance easily demonstrate to the scoffers how different the alternative to neoliberalism really is. And for that matter, "socialism" is a mere abstraction to people who are worrying about where their next meal is coming from, or how they're going to pay the rent at the end of the week. But for people who are for instance living in squalid "rancho" slums, being able to combine together with their neighbors to build cheap PetroCasa housing will likely be all the incentive they need to stick together as a group and build a consejo comunale -- and quickly advance up the ladder of socialist understanding and material well-being -- and class-consciousness.
