Sidor sweet for some ... affected parties weighing in on the consequences of the government decision

Caracas Daily Journal (Vincent Bevins): A day after the announcement of the re-nationalization of the Sidor steelmaker, the affected parties are weighing in on the consequences of the government decision, with the government, its supporters, and the workers celebrating the action, while management calls it unecessary.

The decision came as a result of a prolonged period of accused "intransigence" on the part of management with reference to negotiations with workers for increased pay and benefits, and the workers and their union celebrated the decision.

Today a new day is born in Sidor, we are partying, we are jubilant to be able to take this enterprise on the path it should be on in the development of the nation," said the president of the union (Sutiss) which represents the workers at the plants.

Management, which will lose control, was unsurprisingly much less optimistic, noting that the entity had performed well in private hands and claiming nationalization was not necessary.
Nationalization of key industries has been a fundamental part of Chávez' "socialism of the twenty-first century," while a certain strain of neo-classical economists, well-represented in governments which choose the neoliberal development path, claim these things are best left in the hands of private capital.

In this case, nationalization was less of a planned strategy than a response to the perceived inability of private management to deliver on the worker's needs and demands.

Sidor was only privatized in 1997, making this a re-nationalization.

  1. So these private parties thought they owned this Venezuela's state industrial institution, they know and everyone have to know that any national state patrimony must not be transferred, sold or given away to a national or transnational private sector,
    W H A T S O E V E R

They should know for a fact that there are laws that stops or prohibits the private sector from owning, operating, managing and so forth state's resources or institutions in any way or form, so they should not have bought it or take it.

The same treatment must be for a private corporation from Venezuela
trying to purchase an Argentinian state owned industrial institution, even if the purchase looks real and this private corporation has been for years and is controling and exploiting argentinian labor and resources, this purchase NEVER HAPPENED, private sector can not own a state patrimony and resources.

Nations or States must not allow any form of neoliberal practices to take place on its economy policies or to open doors for exploitation of labor and resources to satisfy particular interests, on the contrary nations must safeguard and protect the social well being of
    their nationals as a whole.

If these private individuals had come to Venezuela to purchase a privately founded corporation that would have been a different situation.

They shouldn't be weighing in on any negative consequences against this decision, on the contrary these are the consequences of a illegal or a illegitimate deal that some people made more than ten years ago against a state.

The Agentinean Congress must have been aware of what one of the country private corporation was doing in Venezuela which then, was to try to purchase unconstitutionally a Venezuela's industrial institution and this congress should've halted it and didn't do anything about it.

Like we did in Venezuela, We are seeing similar situations happening in many nations mainly because the mayority of the population or nationals ignore or do not learn about these protective laws and also do not realize who they are electing as their government, some people can sell a nation sovereignity like the snap of a finger for the solely purpose of personal greed or big quick cash.

When we see decisions taken like Venezuela's government had, we see a state in control and back in power to excersise whatever is necesary to recover what some anti-nationals gave away or sold to others.

The reason why this Sidor's situation becomes a complex ordeal
it is because this NATIONAL INSTITUTION is being seen in the whole world as a " private corporation" and this steel slot machine attracted private individuals and accounts to put money in and withdraw gains from it.

Nowadays, people must be aware of these illegal deals that endanger their sovereignity, national patrimony and the well being of their nation future generations.

All nation's strategic resources, such as energy, minerals, survival and basic services etc., should not be in the hands or control of private bodies or world conglomerate.

There are constitutional laws that protects the integrity and sovereignity of a nation, but anti-nationals replace them with agremments free trade's types which temporarily or permanently will enable outsiders to take control and manage the resources of a nation or state as they wish without interference, just take a look at what is going on at this moment in a North American country where an energy reform FTA type is about be passed by anti-nationals,
of course, if not halted or stopped constitutionally by the people and for the people, now if this action
had been taken when NAFTA, This energy reform would be out of question.

Yesterday, The U.S. Congress gave a significant and extremely important step by halting, at least temporarily, the talks or debate on the free trade agreement that could mean, if ever approved, the lost of the sovereignity, freedom, democracy, self-determination, social and economic developement of the Republic of Colombia.
