Hugo Chavez should call it quits

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez can’t help himself — he’s in love with himself and with the power he wields as the oil-rich South American nation’s leader.
So despite voters’ rejection of a constitutional amendment to expand his term, he’s planning to start anew a “national debate” on serving until 2019, instead of 2012, when he’s supposed to leave office. A recent PBS documentary, “The Hugo Chavez Show,” exposed and explored his narcissism and how he uses the democratic process to try to ensure his political immortality. Chavez, who often mocks and threatens the United States, will likely face some tough times ahead with the steep dive in oil prices. Just like other theatrical performance in financial distress, he should plan to call it curtains on his reign sooner than later before he really gets in trouble.
