- Camacho says that forestry sector workers have been "victimized in a series of injustices" allegedly committed by Echeverria over the last four months "he fired the union leadership without reason and took reprisals against other trade unionists ... all of them are covered by Labor & Social Security (Minpptrass) legislation ... but he (Echeverria) does not want to abide by the measure."
Quoted in today's issue of the local newspaper Correo del Coroni, Camacho says the Sintrafor union has also denounced irregularities in payments to Nora Ramirez, the treasurer of Sintrafor, who was suspended without pay on a false pretext of breach of labor contract. "The only reason is that she was in the forefront of strike action and this is what they have done out of sheer revenge."
Camacho wants CVG president & CEO, Rodolfo Sanz, to step up to the plate and settle outstanding debts which were to have been paid in August ... "it is the only way to put a stop to further labor action ... the workers are very much annoyed and they will continue protesting until receiving social benefits and interest owed since July and bonuses."
"What we need to have explained to us is how it is that the CVG says it lacks the resources to pay us and yet they have taken 220 more workers onto the payroll in less than a year."
