The Chinese have been given a real lesson in how to suppress dissidents by the US authorities: The most efficient cops in the world.
Where only a few dozen activists were arrested and (we hope) temporarily imprisoned in Beijing during the late Olymipic Games no less than 150 were arrested in Denver during the Democrat Convention and 800 in Saint Paul during the Republican. Especially in the latter instance, extensive use was without provocation made by the Secret State Police of physical repression, beatings, gassings etc. even before the nasty convention began.
- From what I could see, the behavior of the Chinese government forces was rather more restrained ... and certainly more responsible ... than was that of the US authorities. If there were public beatings and gassing in Beijing, arrests of journalists, etc., for the most part these things seem to have been carried out in the shadows where they belong.
So far as I am aware, only two Chinese citizens are in a like condition by reason of their actions during the late Olympic Games.
China, pound sand! USA still number one!
Now all we have to do is to somehow ignore all the hoopla and hype which will be inflicted upon us by the corporate media between now and the election in early November. Folks in Venezuela, and elsewhere in the world, should always remember that anywhere between one-half and two-thirds (depending on what part of our country you look at) of US citizens will do just that -- boycott the election.
- In other anti-democratic countries, such results -- a mass abstention from the mock elections must be obtained by very tedious, difficult, even dangerous actions on the part of dissident activists.
When the Obama or McCain government are explaining to the Venezuelan government why their oil must be given to the Empire below production costs, and paid for in depreciating US dollars -- and if these arguments are NOT persuasive, there is always the US Marine Corps -- I pray you will remember this US regime could never have been, and never was democratically elected by its own population.
