Venezuela's Chavez looks to buy more arms during visit to Russia

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez says he is looking to buy more military weaponry during a visit to Russia later this month.
Chavez says he is scheduled to talk with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev on July 22 at the start of a five-day European tour. According to a Venezuelan government statement Thursday, Chavez says Venezuela is looking to obtain new military hardware including Russian tanks. The president already has bought Russian weapons, including Sukhoi fighter jets and 100,000 Kalashnikov rifles. Chavez said Wednesday night that he also hopes to meet with other leaders during his European visit. He did not elaborate.
