Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's links to rebels fighting Colombia's government may be more extensive than previously thought, the Wall Street Journal said, citing U.S. intelligence officials.
Computer records were found on a dead guerilla leader's laptop after a military raid in March, the newspaper said, citing its own review of the data. They suggest that Chavez may be offering the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, known as FARC, rocket-propelled grenades and ground-to-air missiles, the newspaper said.
The information may increase pressure for the U.S. to place sanctions on Venezuela as a state sponsor of terrorism, the newspaper said.
