VHeadline's Washington DC-based commentarist Christ Herz writes: Governmental corruption is endemic in all countries. After all the art of politics is in the deciding who gets and who pays. And all factions busily try to buy the people who make such decisions.
That said, in the face of all the complaints against the government of Hugo Chavez Frias in Venezuela exposed by my colleagues here at VHeadline, I modestly assert that no government anywhere can compete in the extent of its corruption with my own here in the United States of America.
Where President Chavez' advisers deal only with hundreds of millions at most, our rulers here in the North American republic dispose of hundreds of billions.
In fact, in the last 30 days of economic crisis they have dispensed -- to their friends and supporters in Wall Street -- no less than $1.2 trillions! And with hardly any notice on the part of our bemused and stupified public the Washington politicians simultaneously gave away some $650 billions (more or less) to their buddies in the defense establishment. Whatever happens in Venezuela is chicken feed next to that.
USA still numero uno!
Indeed it is a miracle how cheaply the whores of the US congress sell themselves.
For a paltry subsidy of some two or three thousand dollars per day, our congressmen and senators vote their paymasters privileges worth millions of dollars per day. And furthermore much of the payments to the politicians are recycled back to the donors via the corporate media, who have actually the unquestioned right to refuse political leaders airtime -- unless they can pay handsomely for it.
And here is the icing on the cake: Payments to the politicians, routed through an industry lobbying association, are actually tax-deductable as a business expense -- even if your corporation is one of the minority which has not yet figured out how to route its profits through some foreign subsidiary so it need pay no taxes at all.
Perfectly legal. Its a great system. Its called free enterprise.
Now ... if President Chavez really were as cynical as people say, the best way to solidify his hold on office is to immediately suspend CITGO's subsidized heating oil program, take the same funds and distribute them among our fo'-dolla whore US politicians.
It will be amazing how quickly socialist Venezuela would become a bosom friend to the USA -- just like Communist China!

Venezuela is facing the most difficult period of its history with honest reporters crippled by sectarianism on top of rampant corruption within the administration and beyond, aided and abetted by criminal forces in the US and Spanish governments which cannot accept the sovereignty of the Venezuelan people to decide over their own future.
