Relatives and neighbors of 239 people alleged to have been "executed" by Lara state police officers want important heads to roll!

Relatives and neighbors of 239 people who are alleged to have been "executed" by officers from the Lara state police force during the last decade brought their case to Caracas, and they wanted some important heads to roll. Accompanied by a delegation from the Committee of Victims Against Impunity, they gathered on Thursday in front of the Attorney General's Office, and from there marched on the National Assembly (AN). Once at the legislature, they delivered a demand that Lara state Governor Luis Reyes Reyes be summoned by parliament for questioning about the conduct of the police under his political control. Their final destination was the Interior and Justice Ministry to demand that the head of the state police force, Octavio Chacon be replaced. Ninoska Pifano from the Committee acknowledged there was nothing new about the problem. Unlawful killings by police officers in Lara date back to at least 2001. But they claim the situation is getting worse and want a full investigation, and action from the top.
