EMPREVEN's Alejandro Uzcategui hails President Hugo Chavez' initiative as opening new means for financing

Prensa Latina: The president of Entrepreneurs for Venezuela, EMPREVEN, Alejandro Uzcategui, hailed the initiative, Program to Reboot Production, proclaimed last week by President Hugo Chavez.

"In a general sense," he indicated, "the plan opens new means for financing that counter inflationary tendencies," and predicted functioning as an efficient system to increase assignation of resources for the industrial sector.

On national television, Uzcategui praised the move by the head of state last Wednesday when he met with delegates of the productive, financial, industrial, workers, community sectors and other civic groups. At that event the president pronounced the philosophy that "the best investment is always Venezuela" and set aside one billion dollars to breathe air into productivity and light industry, mainly food producers.

The Empreven president reported that their work has led to about five thousand projects in several states. He expressed appreciation, particularly, of the Venezuelan president to eliminate taxes on financial transactions, which has been very well received by the business sector.

Chavez announced a new phase of exchange control with the liberation of companies whose requests were below $50,000 to import capital goods like equipment, spare parts and productive articles. However, the president specified that the measure is in an experimental stage until December 31. If large companies begin to partition requests, the measure will be suspended.
