Crystallex: "We believe the director's letter was flawed regarding his analysis of the Imataca Region"

In a weekend comment on their continuing problems at the Las Cristinas goldmine in southeastern Bolivar State, Canadian mine operator Crystallex International Corporation (KRY) said the company will update shareholders with a news release when it has material information in a timely manner.

Crystallex vice president A. Richard Marshall stated: "There are several issues going on in the same region and some of the small miner issues may add confusion for shareholders and the media. It appears that certain government agencies are still pushing to relocate many small miners into approved areas for mining and possible other forms of livelihood. We believe the director's letter was flawed regarding his analysis of the Imataca Region.

The Mayor and Governor continue to see these large mining projects as economic engines that will generate relief for the region and the National Guard has stabilized the area and continue to use Las Cristinas as a base of operation for the Region. In 2002 a GN post was established at the site."
