Venezuela Satellite Connect Today

Venezuela will advance telecommunications today as it assumes control of the Simon Bolivar VENESAT-1 satellite. The device developed in cooperation with China will give 15 years of service even to those lacking TV or telephone signal, just like the residents in metropolitan areas. Science and Technology Minister Nuris Orihuela called the cost of the $241 million device minimal, since it will help improve living standards, among them, incorporating children living in remote areas to education. Broadcasts will be in C-Band (radio and TV), Ku (high-speed Internet and data transmission) and Ka (future digital TV broadcast). Socorro Hernandez, minister for Computer and Telecommunications, recently said that VENESAT-1 will save some $100 million in private services. With VENESAT-1 Venezuela ranks fourth after Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, to master a technology it intends to use to foster local and international development programs as well.
