Authorities in Lara state continue investigating the causes of death of former regional Legislative Council deputy Virgilio Hernández, whose corpse was found yesterday in Yaracuy. Governor Henri Falcon Fuentes said that security bodies have no evidence so far; however, he said, the full weight of the law will fall on the alleged responsible of what he called assassination.
According to his family, Hernandez left home early morning on Monday for the capital and nothing more was heard of him until they got a telephone call from his cell phone by unidentified people demanding a ransom. "We express our deep sorrow for the death of the friend and comrade of innumerable political battles, said the governor," according to the Bolivarian News Agency from Lara.
Two weeks ago, young journalist Jacinto Lopez was killed, and Falcon asked the Attorney General's Office to speed up investigations of his death supposedly by a hired assassin.
