Siderurgica del Orinoco, Venezuela’s biggest steel mill, had lower production in the fourth quarter following a Sept. 1 power outage, according to Rodolfo Sanz, the country’s minister of basic industries and mining. The plant fell from record output of 355,000 tons of crude steel in August to as low as 245,000 tons in December, Sanz said today in an interview on state-run Venezolana de Television. Demonstrations also curbed output last quarter, he said.
