Opposition parties make an appeal to "defeat again" proposed indefinite reelection
Omar Barboza, the leader of opposition Un Nuevo Tiempo (UNT) party, together with the leaders of other political parties, urged the National Electoral Council (CNE) to open the registry of voters and also criticized a proposal made by President Hugo Chávez to "establish political caste for life." He also encouraged all the country's sectors to join efforts to defeat "again" President Chávez's attempt at becoming Venezuela's life president. The opposition leader was making reference to the president's idea of an amendment to the Constitution not only for president, but also for all elected public offices.
