The government of Venezuela announced that they will install five military bases at the Sierra de Perijá in the State of Zulia along its border with Colombia. They have said this decision is part of the National plan of defense and sovereignty that will fight against drug traffic, especially because they have assured that illegal groups have been using their territory to transport these substances before sending it to the U.S. and Europe. The ministry of interior and justice also said that they plan to fight against paramilitaries and kidnappers as well.
