Chávez calls to "corner and beat the hell out of" the opposition

With the certainty that Venezuela "will be red, very red and will be once again Bolivarian, totally Bolivarian," next November 23rd, Venezuela's President Hugo Chávez completed on Tuesday the local election campaign.

"We have to beat the hell out of them to prevent them from continuing manipulating the people. (...) We will keep on cornering them all over the country. We are going to launch an operation to corner them. We will be merciless (...) so that they know what we, the revolutionaries, are capable of," Chávez told his followers gathered in the Poliedro, a Caracas' indoor sporting arena. The head of state delivered a speech mostly devoted to discredit opposition, especially Manuel Rosales, the current governor of Zulia state and now candidate for mayor of Maracaibo.

"He is a real gangster. I have told officials of the Directorate of Intelligence and Prevention Services (Disip) and Military Intelligence Services (DIM) to keep a watchful eye on him. I know he has plans to leave the country because he should face prison, Rosales is a thief!"
