The same forces of corruption which destroyed USA can NOT be allowed to destroy Venezuela!

VHeadline's Washington DC-based commentarist Chris Herz writes:Perhaps my critics are right; I am not a nice person. But I cannot avoid a feeling of tremendous vindication at the meltdown not only of the US economy but of its polity as well. We are confronted with the destruction of an empire brought low by the collapse of the mountain of debt upon which it was erected. And all this is happening as the US prepares for another of its mock-elections: The people being allowed only to vet those candidates nominated by the elites and responsible only to big money.

All this foreseen for years and discussed right here at VHeadline by myself, my colleagues and by our publisher.

Coupled with the debacle on Wall Street, the so-called debate between two imbeciles, McCain and Obama was really sugar on the cake. Nothing constructive was suggested by either man to address any of the underlying causes of the horror which will dominate the closing years of my own life and of the next several decades of human history. Both stuck close to the permissible corporate line.

Certainly, a mock-election is the perfect opportunity for a mock-debate.

No substantial differences were discovered between the two corporate candidates -- both favoring the use of public funds to protect and sustain private for profit enterprises, crippled by their own past mistakes by the greediness of their leaders. And both favor an aggressive and warlike policy towards the other nations of the world. It was all insane, an exercise in the most bizarre of economic irrationalities, coupled with personal mendacity and intellectual dishonesty of interstellar dimensions.

But there really is nothing else to do for a US politician, because forty years of right-wing dominance of the US has produced not only one of the world's most corrupt political classes, but also a population which has proven itself, again and again, only too happy to indulge itself not only with the immolation of its neighbors but also the crudest abuses of its own poor and minority citizens.

George W. Bush was only allowed to invade Iraq and squander there the dregs of his nation's patrimony because too many of our own thought that as the elites glutted themselves on Iraqi oil, a drop or two would fall from the table to the floor upon which most of us dwell -- that was all alone the real meaning of "trickle down" economics.

These people, leaders and led alike bet all their money on the wrong horse and lost.

But they are not, sadly the only losers. The citizens of most of the rest of the world never swallowed Washington's claptrap and bumph about Iraq -- the weapons, building democracy, etc. But they did NOT dismiss immediately their own corrupt leaders who wanted their own little piece of what Georgie-boy was serving up.

These corrupt, cruel and heartless men followed Bush and the rest of the US plutocracy right down the rat-hole.
  • Now we have not merely failed states, but a failed world system of enterprise and a failed world order.

Of all major US politicians it is the Alaska governor, McCain's partner, Sarah Palin who seems instinctively to grasp the outlines of a successor state to the failed USA. I believe she and her coterie of enthusiastic followers see as the way forward a dominionist theocratic republic ... our own variation on the Israeli and Muslim religious states of the Middle East.

If both socialism and capitalism are now failures, it will be the fitfull flare of the torches in the various temples of superstition which will illuminate the new Dark Ages ... and the only remaining well-organized bloc of voters here in the USA are quite prepared to lead the way into that abyss.

This is why the TRUE work of Hugo Chavez Frias is so important.

This is why it is so important that the same forces of corruption which destroyed the USA cannot be allowed to destroy Venezuela.
