Venezuela among the first ten countries with high biodiversity, but has one of the most elevated rates in deforestation

Within the context of the celebration of the World Environment Day, the Venezuelan Non-Governmental Organization VITALIS has made an appeal to public and private organizations to assume a more responsible behavior before the environmental issues, expanding their actions of social responsibility to the conservationist field, taking base on the argument that only a healthy and ecologically balanced environment would allow the creation and maintenance of the conditions for a fair sustainable development for society.

Although VITALIS recognizes that many organizations have already assumed this commitment before their workers, clients and suppliers, this organization believes that there are many other companies that have to adjust their process to fulfill not only the present environmental rules, but also to have positive environmental impact for the communities and their own employees.

VITALIS considers that an organization being environmentally responsible will able to:
* Minimize costs of production
* Use of natural resources (more responsible)
* Reduce the emission of pollutants
* Be more competitive and innovative in production
* Obtain additional incomes with recycling
* Gain more prestige among distributors and consumers
* Reduce staff rotation and maintain a healthy and stable labor evironment
* Have access to new opportunities in the market and fulfill international standards
* Improve their public relationships and obtain approval from their community
* Be objective of public recognition, avoiding fines because of the non-fulfillment of the law.
