NB Power tells Venezuelan company thanks, but no thanks to deal

Once burned twice shy. That was NB Power's attitude when it came to another contract to buy fuel from Venezuela for a New Brunswick power plant. A deal to buy fuel from a Venezuelan coal company called Carbozulia fell apart last year. On Wednesday, the Tories tried to spin the failed deal into an Orimulsion-like scandal. During the previous Tory government's reign, NB Power spent hundreds of millions of dollars on renovations at the Coleson Cove power plant to burn a fuel called Orimulsion that comes only from Venezuela without a signed contract to supply the fuel. The province sued Venezuela-based PDVSA over the verbal agreement and settled out of court.
