Government to install 125 solar powered potable water plants

Venezuela's Fundelec, a ministerial entity that promotes nationwide electrification, is carrying out a program to install solar powered potable water plants, the government reported in a release. A total of 60 plants have already been installed, benefitting 59 communities and 14,820 inhabitants. Authorities expect to install 125 plants in all to provide resources to indigenous and isolated communities, as well as those located near international borders. The program is supported by the country's energy and oil ministry. The initiative is part of a national energy program that seeks to optimize and reduce the use of energy, and to take advantage of alternative sources, such as solar and wind power.
