Truckmaker IVECO Venezuela this month inaugurated its second assembly plant in the city of La Victoria, Aragua state, with the main goal of ramping up the company's output capacity due to the increasing demand for commercial vehicles in the country. IVECO said in a press release that it made an initial investment of Bs.F.43 million ($20 million) to increase production by 100 percent in number of daily units for an overall 6,700 this year, helped by the other existing plant. The company also said that the opening will generate some additional 400 direct jobs, thus going up to 750 employees from 350 it originally had. The new facility stretched IVECO's production area from 161,458 square feet to 699,654 square feet, which represents a real expansion of 538.20 square feet.

Just because all patients are what matter the most to their doctors, Merck, Sharp & Dome presented its www.msd.com.ve Web portal as part of the medical research and pharmaceutical company's commitment of providing updated information and tips regarding health and medicine to people who need it at a single click – and without leaving home. First launched in 2006 for medicine professionals only, the site counts on a non-restricted area (Guia del Paciente/Guide to Patients) that contains a handful of specific topics from diseases and ailments such as asthma, AIDS, cancer, hypertension and migraines to delicious cooking recipes for people suffering from diabetes or simply in need of a light bite, among other highlights.

After a successful first instalment in 2007, the Campari Alter Ego campaign/party made a triumphal comeback late last month with the presentation of two first-timer DJs, who found out they could do way more than just what they do best: singing for a rock band (Asier Cazalis from Caramelos de Cianuro) and anchoring TV/radio shows (Mariela Celis). Also chucking in was DJ Leo, who besides playing and mixing the best in the electronic music genre at the event held in eastern Caracas, took care of the DJ skills training of both Cazalis and Celis for several months. Campari Alter Ego is known as a campaign of making relationships that is accompanied by tons of artistic elements, performances, adrenaline, celebrations and exhibitions. Caracas is the second capital of the world to host the event after the first edition in Madrid, Spain.
