Bandes/CANTV Garcia Sanz replaces Rodolfo Sanz in BancoEx presidency; former Vice President Adina Bastidas to IADB

According to Official Gazette (Gaceta Oficial) number 38.949 decree 6.161, Eyilde Garcia Sanz has been appointed president of Venezuela's Foreign Trade Bank (BancoEx) replacing the previous holder of the BancoEx presidency, Rodolfo Sanz who continues as Minister of Basic Industries & Mines (Mibam) and president of newly-nationalized iron & steel giant Siderurgica del Orinoco (SIDOR). She comes to BancoEx from a post as general manager at the Economic & Social Development Bank (Bandes) where she had a dual role as a director of the now State-owned telecommunications giant CANTV since 2007.

Also under decree 6.160, former Vice President (2000-2002) Adina Bastidas Castillo has been appointed executive director of the InterAmerican Development Bank (IADB) with responsibility for Panama and Venezuela. At a Latin American & Caribbean meeting on 'Dialogue of Civilizations' in Caracas in November 2001, Bastidas controversially said: "The terrorism of the oppressed is a perverse and lamentable byproduct of a WASP dominance that has become unbearable for the most radical and violent of the subjugated peoples ... supplications and reason will not suffice to impose dialogue on countries of the North ... the South must achieve a capacity to unite, resist and persevere until it attains a new world order that is truly an order, not an immense disorder, under the heavens."
